Bennett Juniper
This is really cool. It is a website about a juniper tree that is 4000 years old. http://www.savetheredwoods.org/protecting/stewardship.shtml

Hello Walls
It's a really old song, probably from before I was born. Maybe it's just me (and it probably is) but I think that "Hello Walls" as sung by Faron Young is one of the most perfect songs. The sound of the words, or how the singer sings them, goes so well with with the sound of the music. I don't know anything about music theory, but I'd like to know why I think this.

Heebie-Jeebies
When we go to bed, the ritual is like this, turn off the living room lights, turn on the downstairs hallway light, adjust the thermostat, turn on the stairway light, turn off the downstairs hallway light, go upstairs, turn on the upstairs hallway light, turn off the stairway light, turn on the bedroom light, turn off the upstairs hallway light. My husband usually is the one to do all that. No real reason why, that's just how things developed.
When my husband is away on business, I'm the one who has to perform the ritual. I would be sitting in the living room all night watching t.v., on the computer, or working on crafts. I am perfectly content and secure as can be, but as soon as I start turning off the lights, I get the heebie-jeebies. It makes no sense. The rest of the night, I'm fine. I am never completely in the dark. There is no crime wave going on. I am not in an isolated area. I lived by myself in an apartment for ten years and never once got the heebie-jeebies. What's up here? I don't know.
By the way, once I get into bed, I want it as dark as possible.

Easy Recipe - Bok Choi
This is an easy recipe and it tastes very good. Precision measurement not required. When I invent something, I rarely measure and with the things I invent, precision isn't necessary.
beef - approx 1/8 cup chopped very fine
olive oil - a little bit
bok choi - one or two heads
chicken broth - 1 can
garlic powder - to taste
onion powder - to taste
curry powder - to taste
Brown the beef in the bottom of the pan that is big enough to cook all of the bok choi. Use just enough olive oil to keep the meat from sticking. After the meat is browned, add the chicken broth and the bok choi cut up into whatever size you like. Add the desired amount of garlic powder and onion powder. (I used three shakes out of the jar.) If you don't have both seasonings, just use one. Cover the pot and let it simmer until the bok choi is done. Season to taste with curry powder. If you don't like curry powder, don't use it. It is still good without but I think it is better with the curry.

Humbug
We have Santa Ana winds today. That means humidity around 9%. The worst thing is how the low humidity makes my hair look. It looks like a waif. Think of those Dickens t.v. movies. 'Please sir, I'd like some more... humidity'.
